Bridging the Gap Between Job Site and Deal Table: Welcome Robert Moss, Our New Construction Industry Specialist

We have always believed that selling a business is more than a transaction. It is often the most significant financial decision of a founder's life. To guide our clients through that complex process, we believe you need more than just a salesperson. You need a true advisor who understands the specific mechanics of your industry.
That is why I am thrilled to announce the addition of Robert Moss to the EDGE team as a Business Advisor and our dedicated Construction Industry Specialist.

Why Construction is Different

If you have read my previous posts, you know I talk a lot about "SDE" versus "EBITDA" and the importance of clean financials. However, in the construction sector, the math gets complicated. You aren't just selling a P&L statement. You are selling backlog, Work in Progress (WIP) schedules, safety ratings, and equipment fleets.
We realized that to serve the HVAC, electrical, plumbing, roofing, overhead door, painting, and landscaping companies of Georgia effectively, we needed someone who didn't just know how to read a balance sheet, but who knew how to read a blueprint.

Meet Robert Moss

robert circleRobert comes to us with over 20 years of operational experience in the HVAC and mechanical construction industries. He isn't someone who learned about construction from a textbook. He has lived it.

What excites me most about bringing Robert on board is the technical depth he offers our clients:

He speaks the language of value: Robert spent years as an estimator using FastPIPE to develop cost models. He understands that in M&A, a buyer needs to know if your bidding process is accurate or if you are bleeding margins on projects.

He understands technical assets:

With a background as a Senior Mechanical Designer using Revit and Navisworks for clash detection, Robert can effectively communicate the value of sophisticated operations to strategic buyers who are looking for modernized platforms.

He is an investor himself:

Beyond his trade experience, Robert manages multiple real estate investment entities and holding companies. He understands the stress of ownership, the weight of risk management, and the complexities of asset disposition.

2 person meeting circleWe often tell clients that they need a "Deal Team" to get to the closing table. Robert strengthens our team by helping construction owners navigate the specific hurdles that kill deals in their sector. Whether that is transitioning from cash to accrual accounting, fixing customer concentration issues where one General Contractor holds more than 20% of the revenue, or proving the transferability of a project backlog.

Robert’s philosophy aligns perfectly with the EDGE standard: "Most owners only get one chance to sell their business. I help them get it right".

If you own a construction or trade business and have been wondering what your exit looks like, Robert is the partner you want in your corner. He bridges the gap between the job site and the closing table.

Construction Companies Robert loves to work with: General Contractors, HVAC, Electrical, Plumbing, Overhead Door, Landscaping, Roofing and more.

Please join me in welcoming Robert to the EDGE family!
